FAQ - ASK us
What is functional medicine?
Functional medicine is a personalized, science-based approach to healthcare that focuses on identifying and treating the root causes of illness, rather than simply managing symptoms. Instead of asking “What diagnosis fits these symptoms?”, functional medicine asks “Why is this happening?”
At Denver Holistic Medicine, functional medicine looks at how systems in the body — including hormones, gut health, metabolism, immune function, and stress physiology — interact and influence one another. We use advanced testing, detailed medical histories, and lifestyle assessment to understand the whole person, not just a single lab value.
This approach is especially effective for complex and chronic conditions where conventional testing often comes back “normal,” but symptoms persist.
Who is functional medicine for?
Functional medicine is ideal for individuals who:
Have ongoing symptoms despite “normal” lab results
Have felt dismissed, gaslit or unheard in traditional healthcare settings
Want to understand the root cause of their condition
Prefer a proactive, preventive approach to health
What is functional fitness?
Functional fitness is a movement-based approach that trains the body to move efficiently and safely for real-life activities while building strength, mobility, and stability as an integrated system. At Denver Holistic Medicine, functional fitness is used therapeutically to build and lean muscle mass and support bone density, particularly for perimenopausal and menopausal women, with programs tailored to each patient’s health history, hormones, and stage of life.
Do you accept insurance?
We are a cash-only practice and do not accept insurance. However, FSA/HSA accounts are welcome. This model allows us to spend significantly more time with each patient, offer personalized care plans, and utilize advanced testing and therapies that are often not covered by insurance.
Where are you located?
We are located in the Virginia Village are of Denver, Colorado and serve patients both in-person (for functional fitness only) and via telemedicine (for all functional medicine visits).
