Q: Do you take insurance?

A: Denver Holistic Medicine is an out-of-network/cash pay clinic. Our policy is to take payment at every appointment for services provided. No exceptions. If you do have out-of-network benefits that cover our services (with a deductible that is $2,000 or less), we can/will submit an insurance claim for you as a courtesy. If your insurance pays out for your visit(s), we will reimburse you once we have been paid by your insurance.

Our Nurse Practitioner, who offers well women’s exams, prescriptive visits, IUD insertion/removal, Nexplanon removal, etc. is currently in-network with both Blue Cross Blue Shield and United Health Care. If you would like to schedule a visit with our nurse practitioner, but do not have either of those insurance plans, we offer reduced-rate cash pay options.

Q: What does “out of network” mean?

A: In short, out-of-network means using a healthcare provider that is not contracted directly with your insurance company. If your plan has out-of-network benefits (not all do), there is usually a deductible associated with your out-of-network benefits that is separate (and generally also higher) than your in-network deductible. Once you have reached your out-of-network deductible, your insurance will cover a certain portion of your visits (called your co-insurance). For example, if you have a $1000 out-of-network deductible, that amount will need to be met before your insurance company starts paying for your visits. Once your deductible has been met, your insurance will cover a certain portion of your visit (for example, 75% of the visit) and you will be responsible for your co-insurance (in this case would be 25%). Having “out-of-network benefits” is similar to a co-pay situation for your in-network providers.

Q: Do you take Medicaid/HMO plans?

A: We do not bill Medicaid and HMO plans, as they do not generally reimburse out of network providers.
